SITE Santa Fe hosts a small biennial retreat of leaders in museum education called the Advance. The theme of the conference is selected by the Directors of Education from the prior convening. The group selected Accessibility, Equity, and Inclusion which proved to be a trending theme across conferences in 2016 and 2017.
Select members of the group collaborated to write texts further exploring the topic and the essays have been compiled into a book. Contributors to the catalogue include Karleen Gardner, Director of Learning Innovation at the Minneapolis Institute of Art; Radiah Harper, Museum Management Consultant; Sarah Jesse, Associate Vice President of Education, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Anne Kraybill, the Director of Education and Research in Learning at Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, Joanne Lefrak, Director of Education and Curator of Public Practice at SITE Santa Fe; Heidi Reitmaier, Executive Director and CEO of the Museum of Contemporary Art Toronto Canada (MOCA); and Winoka Begay, Indigenous Outreach Coordinator at SITE Santa Fe.
